Safari Game
The client wanted a full game. Their topic was heavy on definitions and basic information about insurance. They felt it was a dry topic and wanted some fun involved.
I used Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Vyond, music, graphics, and sound effects. I created a Safari with different locations, items to collect, and challenges to overcome. I voiced the Safari Guide named Sarah who helped the learner through the game. The locations and items to collect all had meaning behind them which contributed to the learning experience.
This map allowed the learner to choose the order of locations they wanted to travel. They must complete the first five locations before unlocking the final challenge (the temple).
Each location had an item to collect and a challenge to complete. For example, this one is where the learner works through the questions to make the alligator retreat until the learner could grab the item.
Each scenario, question, or learning element provides feedback.
After the learner completes each location, they collect an item. The item has meaning to the topic they have been exploring.
The location has a checkmark after the learner completes it. Hovering over each location plays an animal sound effect to provide clues as to what is there.
The top-right side of the map has a backpack icon. Clicking that opens the backpack. As locations are completed, the items fill in. The learner can hover over each item to remind themselves of what it meant.
When they get to the temple, they will use the items they collected to advance.
I created a door code. The door code plays sound effects and glows green and red based on the correct or incorrect code. A lot of this game works like an escape room.
The learner chooses their paths through the temple. Hovering over a hallway path displays different text.
This is a bridge that collapses if the learner runs out of time. The timer is on the upper-right corner of the screen.
